Rugged, wild and volcanic

Tsavo West National Park lies in Taita-Taveta County in southern Kenya. Together with Tsavo East it forms the Tsavo Conservation Area, the country’s largest protected wilderness, and its landscape of ancient lava flows, volcanic hills and natural springs is unlike anywhere else in Kenya.

The park is famous for its red elephants, dusted with the colour of the local soil, and for Mzima Springs, where clear water rises from underground and an underwater viewing chamber brings you face to face with hippo and fish. It is also home to the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, a refuge for black rhino.
