Tour Description

1 Day Ol Pejeta Conservancy and Sweetwaters Day Trip

Discover Kenya’s remarkable wildlife and conservation story on a 1 Day Ol Pejeta Conservancy and Sweetwaters safari in Laikipia. Home to the world’s last two northern white rhinos, Ol Pejeta offers a rare opportunity to learn about endangered species and groundbreaking conservation efforts.

Meet Baraka, the famous blind black rhino, visit the chimpanzee sanctuary and enjoy a game drive across open plains where you may spot the Big Five, with spectacular Mount Kenya views in the distance.

The 1 Day Ol Pejeta Conservancy and Sweetwaters tour includes transfers, conservancy fees, drinking water and a professional guide. With approximately three and a half hours of driving each way, an early start is essential.

Detailed Itinerary

Your driver-guide collects you from your Nairobi hotel very early and drives north past Mount Kenya into Laikipia, about three and a half hours, reaching Ol Pejeta in the morning.

A game drive across open plains that hold all of the big five, with Mount Kenya on the eastern horizon. The day includes the endangered species enclosure, home to Najin and Fatu, and a visit to Baraka, the blind black rhino, who can be fed under supervision. The Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only one in Kenya, cares for chimpanzees rescued from the black market.

After a final game drive and lunch you start back south past Mount Kenya, reaching Nairobi in the evening. If you would rather not do it in a day, we can arrange an overnight at Sweetwaters Tented Camp instead.
